Guide Step 1: Daily Techniques for Prostatitis

What you should do during the day to feel better and get better. This guide is organized from most important to least important. Follow this guide as closely as possible. This is the most important step.

Let Your Pelvic Floor, Anus Muscles Relax and stop Clinching

Most sufferers don’t notice they have a habit of moving there pelvic and Anus muscles. By not relaxing and tightening up these muscles often, you are causing irritation to those muscles which are affecting your prostate gland, causing this problem and pain. A stress or anxiety problem might be causing you to teach your body to do this all the time. Maybe this habit only comes around after urinating or while having a bowel movement. While urinating you should not tense up just let the urine flow out completely without clinching your anus or pelvic wall muscles. While having a bowel movement just sit normal and push slowly, don’t tense up your muscles and avoid clinching or tightening.

Don’t Sit Too Long If You Have Pain or Split Urine Stream

To get over the pain, you can’t feed the pain. Pain and split urine stream is a sign your prostate gland is very irritated and not functioning correctly. If you work a job sitting all day you might want to consider getting a new job or talk to your boss about it. They make prostate sitting pads that are said to help, however I have never used them. What worked for me is kneeling on a soft pillow rather than sitting. Sounds bad, but you have to stay off your butt as much as you can for a while until symptoms improve. You need the extra circulation. You can sit here and there but, if you have a choice stand, kneel or lay down. When you do sit down, sit on something soft and sit normal without any clinching. Latter on when you enter the recovery stage sitting more often will actually help you.

Only Eat Foods That Will Make You Feel Better and Heal You

Check out Guide Step 2: Diet . I explain what you should eat and what you will probably react negatively to.

Drink Water Only

Avoid any drink with sugar, alcohol or caffeine. I am against cranberry juice or any other juice with sugar or fructose. Water is your safest bet for healing, either that or fresh juiced green vegetables. You should drink enough water during the day, whenever thirsty.

Keep Your Sexual Activity Lower Than Usual

Lower it down, especially if you are experiencing pain. Sex is recommended, just do it less frequently. Instead of everyday, why not skip a day or two? Some people say by ejaculating a few times a day will help out symptoms, it just helps you out briefly not good for long term healing, a day after your symptoms will be much worse. If you are having painful ejaculations or other pain before or after intercourse, too much sex can cause more harm than good. I would also advise you to try to keep your mind off of it and don’t try to get yourself in the mood or provoke it. Do it naturally when it feels right. It won’t be like this forever, you will get better.

Safe Positions For Sex and Masturbation

Keep the pressure off. Don't sit while masturbating or having sex. Clinching for a orgasm while sitting is bad. Stand up or kneel when masturbating. safest sex position for prostatitis sufferers by far is the missionary position (you on top).

Make Sure You Are Not Constipated

Suffering with constipation and a painful dysfunctional prostate gland, is not a good combination. It will add to the pain and make your symptoms worse. Try your best not to be constipated and to not push too hard when having bowel movements. Avoid Dairy, chew your food well, drink enough water, eat enough fiber foods, juiced natural vegetables will help and take probiotic’s if you want to. Stay far away from laxatives, chances is your prostate will react negatively to them.

Loose Fitting Pants and Underwear

Underwear is great to keep everything in place and not moving. Helps avoid further irritation. Boxer-briefs or normal underwear is recommended. Make sure your underwear and pants are loose fitting around your waste, to avoid any pelvic or bladder irritation.

In The Winter Months Stay Warm

Keep yourself warm below the waist for better circulation to your prostate gland. In the winter months be sure to wear thermal underwear or sweatpants under your normal clothing, especially when its cold outside.

Urinate before Having a Bowel Movement

It’s Important that you keep pressure off your Prostate. When you push while having a bowel movement, you don’t want to have a full bladder because you will force urine out your urethra and you will become even sorer. Always empty your bladder before having a bowel movement.

No Hard Exercises

This can make your situation much worse. No Weight lifting, running or any other intense exercise. You might think it’s helping you, but it’s not. Moving your pelvic or groin muscles too much while exercising will make it worse.

No Kegel Exercises

If you don’t know what these are, that’s a good thing. No Kegel Exercises. You need to relax those muscles not further irritate them.

Long Walks Are Great

Long normal walks to get the circulation going, is great and a must do. I recommend at least 30 minute walks a day if you can.

Warm Baths and Showers

Doctors will tell you hot sits in baths will help with pain. I believe the hot water slows down the healing process, but helps circulation & pain. A lot of people will disagree with me, but warm baths is what helped me in the long run. Test out hot baths also if you like, to see what works better for you.

The Right Supplements Will Help You

Not Mandatory. I do recommend some that helped me recover. So check out Guide Step 3: Supplements.

Keep Your Mind Distracted and Lower Down Your Anxiety

Don’t worry about the Prostatitis. Keep your mind on other things. Live your life as normal as possible. You need your mind in the right place to get better. If you can’t do this on your own, I would recommend you get some anxiety medication (hopefully it doesn’t react negatively to your prostate) or take natural cheap over the counter 5-htp. 5-htp can be found at Wal-Mart or stores that sell vitamins. I took one 5-htp 100mb pill a day and it helped me get my mind off of this. 5-htp will put you in a positive mood, you won’t worry as much, help you sleep better at night and lower down your appetite.

Lose Weight and Keep your Blood Pressure under control

Good for overall body circulation and better health, this will benefit you. You will lose weight just by sticking to the good foods diet I recommend in Guide step 2 of this site. In 2009, I weighed about 230lbs with mild high blood pressure. Now in 2012, I am 160lbs, very lean with great blood pressure and no medication.

Make Sure You’re Sleeping at Night

I know it can be hard to sleep with pain and frequent urination. It is important you get sleep though. Without sleep you’re not functioning right and your anxiety is getting worse. 5-htp natural supplement helped me a lot with sleep.

Don't Eat Bad Food

Eat only the good foods I recommend on this site. Eat as much of them as you like. Since they are mostly vegetables and lean meats you will get fuller faster. Don’t pig out on junk food and don’t eat the foods I warn you about.

Don't Eat Foods That Give You Gas

Any foods that give you bad gas stay away from. Pushing out flatulence is added pressure to that area.

People With Urine Split Stream, Try To Keep Your Urine Flow As Strait As Possible

If you are suffering from split stream, use your index finger and slightly pull open your urethra (pee hole) in different directions until your urine is flowing out as strait (single stream) as possible. Use this technique to have a strait stream which will lower down any irritation or back flow to your prostate gland.

Not Sure If It Matters With Sex....... Condoms

While having sex I always used a condom while trying to heal. I guess out a fear, since everything felt irritated in the area. To avoid further urethra irritation you might want to try this.

No Drinking Alcohol Or Smoking

Knock that off you are trying to heal yourself, not make things worse.

Try to live a healthy life for now on.

Take good care of yourself.

If You Are Not Urinating At All

See a doctor ASAP, that can be serious.
